The other day I was putzing around in my garden and I found a half pair of eyeglasses, I took the lens and cleaned it, After a moment I had a radical Idea. Lets try to start a fire with the lens, i know it wont work every one knows that right? Wrong! It took a bit of time to get the light concentrated and a few more moments to have smoke curling up. I gently blew at the coal s using a straw and got the flames up. So far so good so I fed the fire till it was large enough to boil a pot of water. I had coffee, oatmeal, and hard boiled eggs for breakfast.
Of course I had people say I was scamming, so yesterday while at the eye doctors I ask the ophthalmologist about it, He said if the lens is thick it can be use to start a fire, also helps if it is glass. So maybe you'll want to add a glass lens to your camping pack! I have the found one stashed in a small plastic case for emergency use.
