One of my favorite seed
starting appliances are small yogurt cups, I'll clean them after the
yogurt is eaten, and then I'll line the cup with paper of some sort.
The paper can be from newsprint or feed bags, I know some people
will scream about chemical inks, but do yourself a favor and read.
Don't trust hearsay.
Anyhow line the cup with
the paper and then fill about 3/4's of the way with potting soil or
compost. Put your seeds in cover, moisten, and in up to 2 weeks you
should see sprouts. Once the seedlings are large enough and have
been hardened off, to transplant just slip the paper /dirt wrap out
and plant in your garden.
Total cost is zilch, you
buy the yogurt and you get to recycle the tubs, the paper is
recycled, and if you use OP/Heirloom seeds, you've probably saved
them from the year before.
So I hope this helps you
save some cash.
